FFGuidebook.com and Sam Hendricks beat 50+ Experts in Week 11 of the 411Fantasy.com Expert of the Year contest. Moves into 3rd overall for season!

I will just let my predictions this year do my talking...

From 411Fantasy.com

"In fact Hendricks, of Fantasy Football Guidebook, wrote a book, I think, with this contest in mind (work with me Sam). Fantasy Football Tips: 201 ways to win through player rankings, cheat sheets and better drafting was probably the driving force last week for Hendricks, who scored 23 points in Week 11 of the 411Fantasy Football Expert’s Contest to take down the field of 51 experts polled.

Hendricks scored five points at QB (Rodgers, Stafford, Newton and Romo +1), one for MJD at running back, another five at TE (Gronkowski +1, Witten +1 and Gates) and five more for kickers (Gostkowski+1, Bailey +1, Akers), plus three for D/ST (Patriots+1 and the 49ers). Hendricks then scored four points for answering two questions (Ogbonnaya and Seattle), one of a few to pick the Browns running back – that takes gumption!

Quietly posting respectable scores most of the season, including four weeks with top 5 scores, Hendricks has earned himself a spot in the top 3 overall as his average score rose from 14.5 to 15.27 points.

Our overall leader Paul Greco (Fantasy Pros 911) held tightly to his lead last week with yet another second place finish. His 22-point effort brought his average score back to over 17 points a week (17.09), a remarkable run so far.

Alone in third place was Andrew Feingold (RotoExperts) with 21 points, his season high to date.

Tied for fourth place with 20 points were Ken Zalis (Fans FF), Adam Conn (411) and Scott Pianowski (Yahoo Sports). Dave Richard (CBS Sportsline) followed with 19 points while Joe Everett (Fantasy Exchange) and Ross Mandel (NFL Draft Bible) each had 18.

A six-way tie 10th place included Jeff Thitoff (97.1 The Fan), Matt Schauf (Draft Sharks), Jamey Eisenberg (CBS Sportsline), Jeff Boggis (Fantasy Sports Empires), Mike Gilbert (RotoExperts) and Patrick Welsh (Fantasy Pros 911), who all had 17 points. They were followed by John Paulsen (Fantasy Shrink), Jason Sarney (Fantasy Phenoms) and Christopher Harris (ESPN), who had 16 apiece.

Adam Helbling (411), Jared Smola (Draft Sharks), Matthew Berry (ESPN), Tim Heaney (KFFL), Jim Day (GoAheadScore.com), Andy Behrens (Yahoo) and Michael Pichan (RotoInfo) rounded out the top half last week with 15 points each.

Ask the Expert Question: Another week, another slew of quarterbacks lost to injury. Which new or likely new quarterback starter will have the most fantasy value the rest of the way?

Another week, another slew of quarterbacks lost to injury. Which new or likely new quarterback starter will have the most fantasy value the rest of the way?

Matt Leinart, HOU, who is not a rookie, just a top draft pick who lost his way and gets a second chance.

He has the best RB in the NFL in Arian Foster (possibly two with Ben Tate). Andre Johnson should make his return from injury this week to join forces with TE Owen Daniels and did I mention a great defense and favorable schedule (well other than ATL and CIN, so 4 of 6 games). Look for 200 yards passing, 1 TD pass and one INT on average.

ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly at http://www.fantasyindex.com/

Ask the Expert Question: Any value in teams who play musical RB (WAS, NE, etc)?

Several teams (Washington, New England, perhaps some others) are playing musical running backs of late. Is there value to be drawn from any one player in the NFL's most uncertain backfields, or should fantasy coaches just avoid those situations entirely?

I Think of it this way..."Beggars can't be choosers". If you are hurting at RB due to injuries or this last bye week (Mendy, AF, Sproles and Thomas owners); you may have to turn to whomever you have stashed on your roster (by the way the 4th bye week team is IND, another team that currently plays this RB shuffle). If you can avoid it, stay away from these situations as it can seriously ruin your outlook on life (and force you to doubt your FF wisdom). Take it from someone who started Torrain when Helu went big and vice-versa .

Following up previous good finishes (2nd place in week 2, 4th place week 5,  and 5th in week 7 out of 50 Experts in the 411Fantasy.com contest) I finished tied for 2nd this week with 17 points.

"A quick congrats to Ken Zalis of Fans FF, who scored 19 for a commanding Week 9 win. Only other two experts to come close to Zalis were Sam Hendricks (FF Guidebook) and Ginny Loveless (GoAheadandScore) with 17 each." From 411Fantasy.com

Experts League Outcomes 1-4 UG! Paying too much attention to the money leagues...

Overall out of 11 leagues 5-6 (overall 65-44-1)

Conclusion: I have said it throughout my FF career. I play better in leagues where luck is less and more skill is utilized. I play better in leagues with PPR, flex players (2 better than 1) and where active management is required (i.e add/drops allowed and the owner has to set a lineup-as opposed to DraftMaster leagues where no lineup is submitted. Historically I do better where my skills can be used to add better players and I think I do a better job at start/sit decisions than most.

FFGuidebook.com and Sam Hendricks loverall #1 (of 84 teams ) in the FFPC Pro's vs Joes Competition

The results are in and FFGuidebook.com (managed by best selling author Sam Hendricks) is the overall leader of the FFPC Pros vs Joes Competition. I lead the 84 team draft master format.

Pros vs Joes FFPC League 2 "Caspers Ghost Hunters" (Draft Masters) Win (11-1 this week) 1st place overall (based on points) (and 1st overall out of 84 teams)
http://leagues.myffpc.com/cgi-bin/welcome_page?UID=q7ko74ga3116fg3wq991ak2egp3p15l&LN=93779&USER=908283&EID1=19316&OPER=1770

Note this is a Draft Masters league and as such is a "draft and forget: league with no trades/adds or drops. The computer optimizes your lineup each week. So it is essentially a league with no options to correct for injuries or status changes.

Time will tell if I can keep up the pace my team is on. There are 83 great players in this competition. 41 other Pro's and 42 pretty great Joe's.

Week 9 Results FFGuidebook.com after Elias Stat change!!!! OAK DEF loses one of their sacks!

The fantasy gods favored me in week 9. I lost my FFPC Main Event game by .6 points when PHI DEF could not sack Jay Cutler once. Even after he fell down they could not tackle him for a loss. Well turns out the official stat changes for week 9 included a ruling whereby OAK Def (whom my opponent started) lost one of their two sacks. Seems Tim "Terrific" Tebow reached the line of scrimmage and thus it was ruled a rush for no gain and not a sack. So OAK went from 2 sacks to 1. And wait for it.........I won in the game by .4.
Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.

So now Week 9 revised...

Ask the Expert Question: Which rookie RB will have the best career?

Rookie running backs have been emerging in the last few weeks. Based on what you've seen and respective situations, which rookie runner do you currently believe will go on to have the best career?

Best career? Way too early to call that. Much will depend on skill sets (talent) and opportunity. Front runner has to be Mark Ingram in my mind, simply because of where he was drafted. In my first fantasy football book, Fantasy Football Guidebook, I point out that the first RB taken in the NFL draft is a stud 80% of the time. That percentage goes down the further away from the 1st round you go.  So the NFL scouts kind of know what they are doing. Statistically, the higher a RB is drafted, the greater the chance of a better career.

Fantasy Football Tip #218 Dont worry too much about limited practice this time of year; be very concerned with missing Wed, Th and the all critical Friday practice

It is the time of year where many players are starting to show up on the injury reports as "limited practice".
Don't sweat these limited practices (LP) too much as some players are just getting a much needed rest.
DO worry when a player misses the Wednesday, Thursday and all important Friday practice. Missing all three is usually a sure sign he will not play on Sunday. Also worry about players who are hurt on Sunday and have to play again on Thursday. The short turnaround time does not bode well for injuries.

Quickly here are the outs so far for Week 10 (NO Byes yeah!)

Expected to Play: Hakeem Nicks NYG WR, Ryan Mathews SD RB but with a reduced load.

Not Expected to Play: Ahmad Bradshaw NYG RB, Felix Jones DAL RB, Andre Johnson HOU WR,  Darren McFadden RB OAK, Kevin Kolb QB AZ
OUT: Peyton Hillis CLE RB, Montario Hardesty CLE,  Emmanuel Sanders PIT WR, Dallas Clark IND TE, Greg Salas-out for season, Ryan Lindell BUF K, Malcolm Floyd, SD WR

Lots of starting RBs out so look to Obyanna CLE, Demarco Murray DAL, Pierre Thomas/D. Sproles NO, Brandon Jacobs/DJ Ware NYG, Michael Bush OAK again

Great new fantasy football blog-"Three East Fantasy Bloggers"

Three East Fantasy Bloggers just started this week (4 Nov). But boy what a good start. Three guys (Mike, Mark and Brent) bring you NFL and fantasy news and opinions. I find it a colorful (yes nice pics), sleek, current and very informative site. Kind of like the blog I would like to have if I had tons of time (or extra people) working on this one. I especially enjoyed Brent Czapp's rant about the NFL Red Zone channel and the disparity between Fantasy Points and turnovers. Tebow and Cutler both have sucked in games this year yet both got good fantasy numbers trying to make up for their interceptions. Is that fair? Then again who said fantasy football was fair. I think I hear the "harsher penalties on turnovers" debate reigniting.

They also do rankings by position -just keep in mind it may be based on 10 team leagues not the 12 and 14 team leagues that are above YAHOO and ESPNs 10 teamers.

Time will tell if they can keep it up (STS), but they had a great official launch and I wish them all the best!!
