FootballGuys Players Championship limited to 3000 players. Less than 500 left for draft-a-thon weekend!

Looking for a great fantasy football contest with a medium size entry fee. Look no more. Last year the FPC had over 1,600 players. Championship Round (Weeks 14-16)

First place is now $125,000 and the first 160 teams win prizes!
Format
FPC is comprised of 12 team leagues with 20 roster spots.
Draft format is classic serpentine: 1-12, 12-1, 1-12, etc.
Regular season is Weeks 1-11.
        League Playoffs are Weeks 12 & 13.
Championship Round and Consolation Round are Weeks 14-16.
Free Agents: The Free Agent process is via blind bidding. Each team will be given 1000 blind bidding "dollars".
Roster/Scoring: The FPC starting lineup allows for two (2) flex positions, also known as the Dual-Flex. The scoring system gives 1 point per reception for RBs & WRs but also gives 1.5 points per reception for TEs, putting extra weight to the TE position. Action scoring is implemented for all TDs: any TD scored by a player is scored as 6 points to that individual player, in addition to any D/ST scoring that may apply. Stat errors will be automatically corrected using Elias Sports Bureau. The deadline for lineup submission for each player via web site or email is the scheduled start time of the game in which the player is participating.

Starting Roster: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 2 flex players (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, 1 D/ST

Scoring system
-4 points for passing TDs, 6 points for all other TDs
-0.05 point for every 1 yard passing
-0.1 point for every 1 yard rushing or receiving
-1.0 point per reception for RBs and WRs
-1.5 points per reception for TEs
-3 points for every FG of 1 - 30 yards plus 0.1 point for every yard thereafter
-1 point for D/ST sack, 2 points for all turnovers
-6 points for all D/ST touchdowns
-5 points for every safety
-12 points for every shutout
-8 points for allowing between 1 - 6 points
-5 points for allowing between 7 - 10 points

I love these leagues and play in them each year. Hope to see you there. There is limited availability to enter this contest, but tons of drafts this weekend so what are you waiting for?

Latest Fantasy Football/NFL news

Out for season!
Rashard Jennings RB JAX-there goes the handcuff for MJD. Grab Deji Karim as he HC now and expect more from MJD since rumors of taking it easy on him were more bc of R Jennings great showing.

Tony Moeaki TE KC-KC QB Matt Cassel has been terrible all preseason and I have avoided him in every draft. Now I have even more reason to avoid him. Bump Dwayne Bowe up some though as KC may be behind even more.

Chris Ivory RB NO-Ingram owners are quietly saying yes my overrated player might produce.

Byron Leftwhich QB PIT-not really news but...

Released
Donnie Avery WR STL-No real surprise here as STL has so many WRs in camp. but with Mark Clayton on physically unable to perform (PUP) until week 7, I thought STL might keep Avery. Remember IR is injured reserve and out for season, PUP means out thru first 6 weeks of the season.

Larry Johnson RB NO-questions...none.

Chester Taylor RB CHI-wow this was a quick decent in terms of ability. Or is it. MB3 is the HC in Chicago.

Desmond Clark TE CHI-no real surprise here.

Justin Gage WR TEN-Interesting as Kenny Britt has had his share of off the field problems. But Gage just was not catching the balls like he used to.

Won starting job
Dan Bailey K DAL- appears to be the winner of the Dallas kicker lottery.

Alex Smith QB SF-Release of Josh McNown seems to seal Smith as the starting QB with rookie K+9 holding the clipboard for awhile.

Cam Newton QB CAR-starts week 1. Who did not see this coming?

John Kasay K NO-ok so he got it by default since Garrett Hartley is out for 6-10 weeks with a hip injury, that is a long time to be out as a Kicker.

Fantasy Sports Writers Association (FSWA) Industry Insiders League

This league had a slow draft. Basically, everyone gets 12 hours to make their draft picks. An email alerts every owner when a pick is made and who is on the clock. Generally you can go through one round each day and thus a 20 round draft will take about 3 weeks. This is a 12-team, H2H, PPR league start 1/2/3/1/1/1 + 1 flex (R/W/T).

Here is the draft order:

1 Team Georgopoulos

2 ESPN - Becquey

3 PFF Mike Clay

4 College & Pro Football Newsweekly

5 FantasyPros911.com

6 Team Lester

7 Fantasy Shrink - John Paulsen

8 Team Hudson

9 FFTrader - Perkins

10 FFGuidebook.com (Sam Hendricks)

11 RotoExperts-Feingold

12 Team Boser

Overall I really like this team. Strong at RB, good potential at QB, solid TEs. slightly weak at WR but 3 good starters and a few sleepers that could pan out.

QB
Ben Roethlisberger PIT (8.03)
Sam Bradford        STL (9.10)

RB
Matt Forte            CHI (1.10)

World Championship of Fantasy Football (WCOFF) announces cancellation

WCOFF is no longer a high stakes fantasy football league. They will not have a draft in 2011 and until they pay all of their previous winners (FF 2010, FB ?) then they should not be considered a possible venue for play.

Here is the announcement they placed on their defunct (closed to posts) message board.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the World Championship of Fantasy Football has been canceled for the 2011 season. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our players. Please be assured we exhausted all possible options for a solution which would allow us to host this year's contest.

While the 2011 contest will not be hosted, ownership continues to work towards a successful restructuring of the business with the anticipation of returning in 2012.

Participants previously registered for the 2011 WCOFF will be receiving follow up communication with instructions for requesting refunds of entry fees paid. Additionally, communication will be forthcoming to players with award credit on account. "

What a shame.
I have no idea how management ruined such a great event.
Why they waited til less than a week before the NFL season to tell their players this news is beyond me.

Ask the Expert Question:Who is most underrated player in drafts this year?

Who is the most underrated player you've seen in fantasy drafts thus far?

Anytime you talk “underrated” what you really mean is who do you think will be better than anyone else expected. I will give you one at each position.

Colt McCoy CLE QB: (148th overall, 23rd in QB)-the Browns will be behind all season long. McCoy protects the ball and can scramble, both will help him in fantasy stats in losing games. He has proven his ability this preseason.

Tim Hightower WAS RB (92nd overall, 33rd in RB)-How can you pass on a starting RB in the 8th round of the draft? Sure “Skeletor” Shanahan flips RBs like Washington increases the debt limit and Hightower has been known to fumble a few starting gigs away. But at that value he is worth a pick.

Steve Smith CAR WR: (85th overall, 32 WR) Smith has been a top 20 WR most of his career (except for last years Jimmy Clausen experiment). Cam Newton’s mobility gives Steve Smith more options.

Honorable mention: Todd Heap AZ TE, Jason Hanson DET K and Atlanta Defense.

Fantasy Football Index Experts Auction Draft team and a review

Fantasy Football Index Experts Auction Draft

Here is my team from the 15 Aug draft
It is a 12-team, $200, 22 man roster auction league that starts 1/2/3/1/1/1+1 flex (R/W/T). No trades or add/drops functions much like a draft masters or draft experts league. Not H2H but instead all play every week.

QB
Mike Vick $31 (loved his value at over $30 in August; his preseason has made me less optimistic)
Kevin Kolb $6 (great value to modulate Vicks up and down weeks

RB
Chris Johnson $37 (If he signs in the next day or two I am OK; if not I will not have 2 starting RBs)
MJD $30
Ryan Williams $8 (out for season-there goes my bye week fill in)
Rashard Jennings $7 (argg)
Donald Brown $1

WR
Brandon Marshall $16
Brandon Lloyd $17 (Like him better each week)
Percy Harvin $18
Julio Jones $7 (did you see how many targets he had in week 3 of preseason)
Ochotoreno $4
Earl Bennett $1 (sleeper)
Eddie Royal $1 (sleeper who I hope hits)
Anthony Armstrong $1

TE
Greg Olsen $4 (climbing up draft boards every day now)
Kevin Boss $3
Todd Heap $2 (money if healthy in AZ)

K
Garrett Hartley $2 (may not play week 1, it is DM so thats why you get 2 Kickers)
Sebastan Janikowski $1

DEF
BAL $2
TB    $1

Is there a new top High Stakes League?

Now that the World Championship of Fantasy Football (WCOFF) has apparently met its demise this year. There are two great high stake leagues available: The Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) and National Fantasy Football Players Championship (NFFC).

Both offer innovative live and online draft formats.
Both bring something different to the FF world. The FFPC has a $200,000 grand prize and over 620 of the worlds best players. The NFFC offers drafts and multiple cities through out the U.S and both a 12 and 14 team contest. It really is great having so many choices. Why not play both?
