Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) offering more Victory Point Leagues in 2012!

I am excited about the expanded VP Leagues being offered at the FFPC this year. The FFPC has introduced some new Victory Point leagues that pay out some really juicy cash prizes.

Since their launch in 2008, the FFPC has used the ‘Victory Points’ format for certain high profile leagues like the Live Auction leagues, the $5,000-entry Big Payback, the $10,000-entry High Society and all FFPC Dynasty leagues. Victory Points (aka VP) format quickly became a player favorite as it created an extremely competitive league environment. VPs also enhance the most important aspect of H2H -- they make it more fun and less random!

Here’s the basic premise behind Victory Points. While you’re still playing weekly H2H matchups and trying to get a win, with VPs you are also awarded or penalized for the amount of points you score for the week. So your goal each week is to accumulate as many Victory Points as you can by your team getting a win and scoring the most fantasy points. League standings are no longer based on simple Wins and Losses, they are based on the amount of total VPs for each team. If you score the most of anyone in the league you get the maximum VPs (in this case 4 points). So even if you had the dreaded 2nd most points and lost to the highest scoring team, you still would get 2 VPs or half of the possible points because you beat everyone else in the league in scoring that week. VPs make up for scheduling inequalities where you meet the highest scoring team of the week on your best scoring week. Of course, it can be a double edged sword as you may sneak out a win by scoring the 2nd lowest points for the week and only get 2 VPs because your score did not beat anyone else in the league. You just got lucky and played the poor owner who had the lowest scoring week.

‘Victory Points Money Leagues’ will be a new category of leagues offered by the FFPC for the 2012 season and beyond. All VP Money Leagues will be drafted Online as Live drafts with a 90-second timer as well as Slow drafts with a 12-hour timer. VP Money Leagues will be offered in a $500, $750, $1000 and $2500 price points and, as with all FFPC offerings, will have excellent prize payout percentages ranging between 83% - 92%.
