Fantasy Football Tip: 231 Be Smart About The Flex!

Recently I made a rookie mistake involving the flex spot. I decided to use Mark Ingram RB NO as my flex player and he happened to be playing in the Thursday Night Game. I put him in the flex spot on Tuesday and forgot all about him until the Friday night after the TNF game. He started as my flex. What a rookie mistake!
Instead I should have moved him into one of the two dedicated RB roster starting spots. Since he was playing first and I knew he was going to play I should have used up the RB spot and left the flex open-to give me more options at the flex position later on that week in case of injuries or a benching. By putting Ingram at flex I took away any "flexability" I had. As it turns out Giovanni Bernard turned out to be "OUT" that week and I was forced to replace Gio with a lesser RB whereas if I had used Ingram at RB and left the flex open-(where Gio would have gone) then I could fill Gio's spot with either a RB/WR or TE.
Silly me. It did not cost me this time but is a great reminder to always try and maximize your FF potential. Tips like this make you a better manager and give a better W/L record.
