Extra Point Rule Change and Fantasy Football

By now you have heard the news that the Extra Point (XP) attempt will be moved back 13 yards to the 15 yard line. The 2 point conversion will stay at the 2 yard line. What does this mean to fantasy owners?

An XP is now the equivalent of a 32 yard FG. How many of those are missed each year? A few but not many. Something like 97% are made. So the take away is a few more XPs will be missed by kickers-big deal.
If anything it makes the top kickers and those playing in Domes or in great weather conditions (think SD) a smidge more valuable. You may lose a point for a missed XP every now and then but it will not be too critical.

What could be disastrous is if the Head Coach decides to start going for 2 point conversions more often. Think Chip Kelly or rumors are PIT and NYJ (Tebow anyone?) might decide to do this. If the teams go for 2 pointers that leaves the team kicker without those critical XP points.

Something to think about as you wait for the training camps to start.
