I am going to describe some of the differences between a FFPC $150 league, NFFC $150 league and a FFPC $175 league. All are satellite leagues played online.
Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC)
-12 team leagues
-20 Round draft
-4 Points for passing TDs
-Misc Action scoring
The FFPC awards TDs to kickoff and punt returners who score a TD on kick returns. Factor this into your rankings but few WRs and even fewer RBs have this effect. It is nice to see though when DeSean Jackson scores a TD you want six points!
-Starting rosters of 1/2/2/1/1/1+2 flex
So only 2 WRs have to start and two flex are allowed. This puts less of a premium on WR since you have to start only 2 each week. RBs get more love since they can be used as both of the flex positions. I like a strong 4 RB starting lineup then on bye weeks I can rely on a WR or TE as a flex.
-PPR but on steroids as TEs get 1.5 PPR
This elevates the really good TEs in drafts. Jimmy Graham can easily go in the first round in FFPC drafts. More teams carry two TEs too since they can be used as one of the two flex players.
-6 Playoff teams
Great idea! 1st and 2nd seed get byes in first round
-13 week regular season
No head to head instead it is a total points league.
-Playoffs involve H2H for weeks 14-16
H2H in the playoffs only. Hmmmm
National Fantasy Football Championship (NFFC)
-14 team leagues
The NFFC has both 12 and 14 team leagues. 14 team leagues present a great challenge as the FA market dwindles quickly when that many team are drafting. The prize money is larger too since you have two extra teams contributing. It is also harder to win for the same reason-more competition!
-20 man rosters
In 14 team leagues 20 man rosters soak up some extra players that might have been available on the waiver wire.
-6 Points for passing TDs
QBs need to be ranked higher due to this; for example the top 3 QBs will be drafted in the first round; the next two in round 2, the next five in the 4th and 5th rounds and then three more in rounds 6 and 7 for 13 QBs in the first 7 rounds. How is that for equality!
Of course -2 for interceptions does cost the QBs who throw a lot of picks
- 3RR and KDS
3RR stands for third round reversal and it means the last draft spot gets to go first in the third round; note that also get to go first in the 2nd round as is the norm in a serpentine draft. So in a 14-team, league the 14 draft spot gets 1.14, 2.01 and 3.01 so three of the first 29 picks.
KDS is the Kentucky Derby System where you get to rank which draft spot you prefer to have and are awarded it based on a random drawing of teams and what others have picked before you. It provides a way for owners to get a draft spot that they prefer. I personally love the 2,3 and 4th spot and the 9th , 10th and 11th so that I can get some advantages boxing out the corners (read Fantasy Football Guidebook for more on this topic). So I put 2, 3, 4 and then 1 as my choices then 9,10 and 11, then 5 thru 8 and finally 12 in a 12-team 3RR draft league

So 3 WRs have to start and only one flex is allowed. This puts a higher premium on WR since you have to start 3 each week plus another as a flex if desired. WRs get more love and are drafted higher in NFFC leagues. Example: 11 WRs are drafted in the first 3 rounds of most NFFC drafts.

I prefer 6 teams..... enough said.
-13 week regular season
In 14 team leagues this is easy. In 12 team leagues they play two "All Play weeks (Week 1 and 2).
-Playoffs involve total points for weeks 14-16 plus the week 1-13 average
I like this but....miss the H2H. So I am torn.

-12 team leagues
-20 Round draft
-4 Points for passing TDs
-Starting rosters of 1/2/3/1/1/1+2 flex
Bigger emphasis on WRs as 3 WRs have to start and two flex are allowed too. RBs get more love since they can be used as both of the flex positions. I like a strong 4 RB starting lineup then on bye weeks I can rely on a WR or TE as a flex.
-PPR (normal 1 point for RB/WR or TE who catches a pass)
-4 Playoff teams
-13 week regular season
Weeks 1 and 2 are all play, then you play against one team in H2H for weeks 3-13
-Playoffs involve total points for weeks 14-16 plus the week 1-13 average
