ExtraPointPress.com Wins Pros vs Joes Division and Finished 5th Overall out of 72 contestants!

After three weeks (14-16) of outscoring all of my worthy competitors in the 2015 Pros vs Joes Challenge (sponsored by FFPC) my team, ExtraPointPress.com-representing the publishing company that sells my books, won "The Love Boat" Division which drafted on Sunday July 26th at 8pm.

I finished 5th overall out of 72 competitors. Remember the PvJ Challenge is made up of 36 Pros or Industry Professionals and 36 "Joes" who are Main Event competitors in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC). Those 36 "Joes" come from the ranks of FFPC players who signed up for the FFPC Main Event before their early bird deadline thus earning them a shot at the lottery to play in the Pros vs Joes Challenge. Those "Joes" have won more divisions and Overall PvJ titles than the professionals. Suffice it to say they are a highly competitive group of individuals who play high stakes fantasy football and know their stuff.

My winning team had 10 straight weeks (6-16) of finishes in the top half of the league!

Here is my roster. Remember this is a Draft Experts (DE) event so no adds/drops or free agency during the season and no setting of lineups each week as the computer sets the perfect lineup based on how your players perform that week. It is truly a "draft and forget" format. The FFPC has DE leagues starting at $35 and going all the way up to $1,250 for live events in Las Vegas. This year the weekend is September 8-11, 2016. See you there!

Ask the Expert Question: What do you believe is the best format for a playoff fantasy league (salary cap, one draft, draft after each round, etc.)? Do you participate in such leagues yourself?

What do you believe is the best format for a playoff fantasy league (salary cap, one draft, draft after each round, etc.)? Do you participate in such leagues yourself?

Love the idea of a salary cap playoff-but sounds like hard work for the commish especially if it changes every week of playoffs. I am the commissioner in my local league and I run a playoff contest that is similar to other high stakes contests. Each owner can pick only 1 player per playoff team. So if you pick Tom Brady from the Pats you CANNOT also have Rob Gronkowski. We usually use 10 roster spots so two playoff teams will not have players on your roster. I also change the rules in the playoff contest to "try out" rule changes for next year. So if we are thinking about going to a 1.5 PPR for TE-I use it in the playoff contest. No two rosters can be the same. So the first one with a QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE, 2 Flex, K and Def has that roster for the duration and no other owner can have the exact same lineup. They can change one position and have a totally different roster. The roster is for the entire playoffs and Super Bowl and...players that make it to the Super Bowl get double points in that game. Again very similar to another high stakes contest but I change the scoring rules every year to reflect possible rule changes the competition committee are considering so everyone gets a feel for them and can give some good feedback. I will be playing in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) Main Event in 2016. Hope to see everyone in Vegas in September for the the live draft! Happy New Year!
