Questions about Kindle for desktop computers and printing

Several buyers over the years have asked how to read their kindle book on their PC or MAC.
Then the follow up is "How do I print a page or two from there?"

There is a Kindle software program that will allow you to read a kindle book on your desktop computer. It is called Kindle for PC and comes in Windows and Mac versions.

With the Kindle for PC program, you can copy and paste and then print.

Highlight the page you are interested in. Use your mouse and scroll down the page. Once highlighted, a bar will appear with the copy selection. Click on that. Then open your MS Word or word processing program and click on Paste or do a CTRL V. If the font is too small, then do a CTRL A to select the whole page and change the font to something larger. You can bold headings too, if you wish, and do any other formatting.

You will notice that at the bottom of the page is a two-line footer that has been added to the page. It provides the author of the book with the publication date, the name of the book and the location from where the page came from, the name of the publisher and that the book is a Kindle Edition. This is to prevent infringement of the copyright.

You can then print the page from your word processing program.

Pros vs Joes Draft Friday 26 July

The 2013 Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge
Conducted by FantasyMojo.com and the FFPC (Fantasy Football Players Championship)

What is this?  The ultimate 'battle royal' of fantasy football expert leagues. The industry experts face off against the high stakes players of the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC).

 In 2013, the stakes are raised!

The field is divided into multiple 12 team leagues. Each league is comprised of 6 players (Joes) and 6 ex-perts (Pros). Every division conducts its own live, 26 round draft (hosted by RTSports.com), during an evening in late July. Each individual league winner will be awarded a FREE Entry into the 2014 FFPC Main Event. (A $1650 value!!). The overall winner receives a custom Titlecraft trophy as well.


Note: This is a Draftexperts (best ball) format. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MANAGE THE TEAM THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. The team you draft is the team you will go to war with during weeks 1-16. Each week, your best performing players at each position are automatically started for you by the system. The extra large roster of 26 players gives you the opportunity to draft for the extra depth you will need.

The scoring system and weekly roster format is per FFPC rules. Basically it is a PPR format, except that tight ends get 1.5 points per reception AND players that score touchdowns on special teams, also get those points awarded to them individually. Also, each week you get to utilize TWO flex players. Weekly lineups consist of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D and 2 Flex positions (RB, WR, TE). Innovative!

FFPC has over 800 teams entered in their Main Event-Can they hit the magic 1,000 team mark?

The Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC) (www.theFFPC.com) has over 800 entrants and seems to be poised for hitting the 1,000 team mark soon. 800 in July may be a record too.

FFWC strategies

I recently played in the FFWC Qualifier. The Entry fee was $175 and the payout is $1450 for first and $350 for 2nd place. $1800 total payout versus $2100 in entry fees for a 85.7% payoff and a 8.3 return on investment ($175 entry). I like it.

The starters are 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF and 2 Flex players (RB  or WR or TE). So 11 starters versus the traditional 10 starters from a 20 man roster.


First thoughts are the draft is even more important because 11 of 20 come from your bench. Plus there are two flex players (just like the FFPC) so finding sleeper RBs and WRs can really payoff as you can start them as flex players. Vice playing in a start 2 RBs league and you somehow hit on two sleepers at RB and now have 4 starters but can only start 2. Arg!

Another plus is the season is 13 weeks long. I like this for two reasons: one it is longer than the traditional 12-team, 11 game season so more of the luck factor is removed from the H2H schedule. More games means more opportunity to overcome an unlucky scheduling bias where you score more than everyone else but your weekly opponent yet still get a loss.

The other thing that is great about a 13 game season is suspensions and injuries are less detrimental. Think about it. If Josh Gordon is out for 2 of 11 games or 2 of 13 games-which affects your draft day decision more?

I also love the fact that the week 12 byes this year do not hurt my team during the fantasy playoffs in this league. I started with C.J Spiller and Marshawn Lynch-both would be on a bye for the playoffs in 11 game leagues.

Two things in the rules that stand out as far as the draft goes:

-There are no rules governing the number of players to be drafted at each position. It is up to the skill and draft strategy of each team owner to decide.

-Bidding starts the Wednesday prior to week 1 of the NFL season.

To me this means I do not have to draft a Kicker or a Defense and can instead stockpile two extra players at the RB or WR position. Then after training camp is over once all the battles have been fought and depth charts are settled, then I can drop two flops as sleepers and add a K and a DEF. Who cares if I get the 15th K or Defense? Those positions fluctuate so much and whoever is middle of the pack has just as good a chance of finishing higher up. SO I am going to forgo the K and D in drafts and draft an extra WR or two probably.

These leagues also start 3 WR and two flex players so you could conceivable start 5 WRs. WRs need to be stockpiled. Grab RBs early and then WRs after you get 3 good RBs. Wait on QB-there is tons of depth there and the same applies to TE although drafting one of the top two or three TEs could be beneficial if you get them at fair value.

First let me state for the record this was a very talented league. I had Kimra Schleicher before me at 9th. Kimra is one of the top players in the world  (6th last time I looked) according to the High Stakes Fantasy Football Global Player Index and Henry Muto on the other side of me (11th). Henry won the $100,000 NFFC  Online Championship last year. So I was bookended by two great high stakes players. I liked my draft. As always a few mistakes and some bright spots. I skipped a K and Def to stockpile an extra RB and WR until the end of training camp. I can add a K and Def from the waiver wire that occurs before the season starts.

Thoughts:
-Strong at RB and TE (Two of my top 8 RBs and five of my top 30 RBs. Hillman starts and stays the starter for some time)
-Both QBs can give me good production by playing the matchups
-WRs Two top 20, one top 35 and some sleepers that I need to hit on
