Vikings looking to trade for QB Sage Rosenfels from Texans

Again the Vikings appear to be trading for Sage Rosenfels from Hou Texans,
the Vikes tried to get him last year too.
If they can trade for him that will free them up to look for a stud WR in the 2009 NFL draft and 5 of them should go in the first round.
Rumors say it will be a fourth round pick although the Vikes may be desperate enough to offer a 3rd rounder.

NFL fines Holmes $10,000 for Super Bowl TD celebration; it should have been a 15 yd penalty too-Would that have changed the outcome?

The National Football League has fined Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes $10,000 for his fourth quarter touchdown celebration during the Super Bowl.

Two weeks ago, NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira said the celebration should have drawn a 15-yard penalty on the following kickoff. Such penalties result in an automatic $10,000 fine.

The ref's missed the call. I sure would have liked to have seen the last minute of the Super Bowl with AZ 15 yards closer.

Top 20 RBs for fantasy football 2009

Top 20 Fantasy Football Running Backs for 2009-Updated 16 Feb 2009

Marshawn Lynch is back in the news for some "bad boy" trouble. I have taken the liberty of dropping him in my rankings. Fred Jackson gets a bump up though.

1 Matt Forte CHI-Da Bears only weapon=lots of touches
2 Adrian Peterson MIN-Third year is the charm, no injuries (fingers crossed)
3 Brian Westbrook PHI-In a PPR league he is money in the bank
4 Michael Turner ATL-"burner" is the future of ATL, schedule may be tougher
5 Marion Barber DAL-16 games in 2009 make him Top 5
6 Steven Jackson STL-New coach, new SJAX
7 M. Jones-Drew JAX-Drops some due to worry full time roll may have
8 L Tomlinson SD-Older.......with SD in 2009??? Sproles looks pretty good
9 De Williams CAR-RBBC with Jonathan Stewart has me lowering expectations
10 Clinton Portis WAS-#1 RB for most of 2008. Top 10 despite coach/RB issues
11 Frank Gore SF-If SF was not so far behind most of the 2nd half each game
12 Steve Slaton Hou-A little sophmore slump
13 Chris Johnson TEN-RBBC means out of Top 10
14 Thomas Jones NYJ-Another QB to deal w means fall in standings for my Wahoo
15 Brandon Jacobs NYG-Durability issues, but with D Ward leaving....
16 Pierre Thomas NO-Can a sleeper technically have done so well the yr prior?
17 Reggie Bush NO-Points per reception (PPR) baby!
18 Ronne Brown MIA-MIA will not surprise anyone this year. Good run game
19 Joseph Addai IND-Not a Top 5 RB but a Top 20 for sure. Injury issues
20 Darren McFadden-Only problem will be OAK playing from behind too much

Dropped from RB15 to out is Marshawn Lynch BUF-for off the field issues recently. Move Fred Jackson up big time. He could be the BUF starter in Sep as this is Lynch's second brush with the law in a year.

2009 Coaching Changes

Eleven new Head Coaches (HC) start 2009.

Head Coach (HC)
Detroit Lions-Jim Schwartz (former TEN DC)
Denver Broncos-Josh McDaniels (former NE OC)
Cleveland Browns-Eric Mangini (former NYJ HC)
St Louis Rams-Steve Spagnuolo, (former NYG DC)

Oakland Raiders-Tom Cable (named interim in 2008 then hired as HC)
Seattle Seahawks-Jim Mora Jr. (replaced retiring Mike Holmgren)

Tampa Bay Bucanneers-Raheem Morris (former TB DC)
Kansas City Chiefs-Todd Haley (former AZ OC)

Bets to fail: OAK, STL, KC, CLEV, DET, OAK

Book review-New York Yankees: An Interactive Guide to the World Series of Sports (Sports by the Numbers)

Outstanding! A great gift for any baseball fan., January 31, 2009
Sam Hendricks "Author of Fantasy Football Gui... (Virginia USA) - See all my reviews

I loved this book. I could not put it down at night. This book is the perfect bedside or coffee table reading material. New York Yankees: An Interactive Guide to the World of Sports has a huge collection of interesting data about the entire New york Yankees history. But not only does it include numbers (as in Sports by the Numbers -the authors trade marked series of books) but it also has photos, stories and trivia that will bring you back to this tome, time and time again after reading it the first time. Some of the information will surprise you, some will delight you and some will enlighten you. The authors also have a website devoted to adding to the books experience. This "Interactive World of Sports" expands on some of the authors favorite topics and gives you, the reader, even more bang for your buck. What a great idea! In my opinion, the index alone is worth the price of the book when you see all the players' statistics it encompasses. New York Yankees reminds me of the perfect scrapbook with poignant pictures, history and the legends who made that history. A must read for Yankees fans and in fact, all baseball fans will enjoy this outstanding book. What a great gift!

What was your best preseason pick?

Wes Welker and Dwayne Bowe are currently 7th and 17th. I picked them to be 14th and 19th back in May while many did not have either in their top 25 WRs. I liked Welker’s heart coming across the middle and rightly predicted KC would be behind early and often leading to lots of passes for Bowe. I also picked Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis as busts. Both are sitting at about 30th. I was very high on Matt Forte, but even I did not pick him to be a top 3 RB in PPR leagues.
