2008 Fantasy Football Manager Rankings

According to the latest Fantasy Football rankings available at http://www.footballdiehards.com/WorldRankings2008.cfm, I finished 242nd in 2008.
I am assuming that is based on the 7th place overall at the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC), skipping the World Championship of Fantasy Football (WCOFF) and my mid range finish at the National Fantasy Football Championship (NFFC) and the NBC Sports Fantasy Football Championship.

In 2009, I have committed to play in the FFPC and I am considering the NFFC or NBC Championship.

Is there a better way to evaluate the fantasy football managers/owners?
Should it be on money won? Or does money wagered factor in too?
How about high stakes leagues versus others? What is the cutoff?
Do multiple teams in one contest taint sucess?
The number of participants and the amount of the entry fee should definitely factor.

Ready to try the next level of Fantasy Football?

Are you ready to take the next step in Fantasy Football? Have you dominated your local FF leagues or YAHOO/ESPN/CBSSPORTS leagues? Feel like you are one of the best but in a little pond with no competition. Tired of beating teams that give up after they lose a few games?

Think about a High Stakes League.

The World Championship of Fantasy Football (WCOFF), www.WCOFF.Com offers the chance to play with other dedicated fantasy football enthusiasts competing for a $300,000 grand prize. League prizes total over $10,000.

I have played WCOFF in the past and have a .725 W/L record in that competition.
The Main Event is held in Las Vegas on Friday 11 Sep or Sat 12 Sep.

If you care to try, mention code “Slam” and get $100 off your entry fee.

Good luck!

A big admiration to all those fathers. It takes a big sacrifice to be a father to a child.

3rd year WRs who may surprise

So Calvin Johnson and Dwayne Bowe are not going to be a big surprise to be in the top 15 WRs, but there are few other 3rd year receivers who desevre a closer look at sleeper.

Anthony Gonzalez-IND ....with the loss of Marvin Harrison he looks ready to move up.

Steve Breaston-AZ........If Boldin leaves definitely move him up; even if Boldin stays Breaston may get better in 09'. Especially if your league awards KO/PRTN TDs

Ted Ginn Jr.-MIA......Put up or shut up time. I like him as a sleeper but word out of MIA is that Greg Camarillo is back from his injury and taking over where he left off

Steve Smith-NYG.......Plaxico gone. Does D Hixon get the nod or is it the other Steve Smith

James Jones-GB.......More of a long shot than the other guys on the list.

Sidney Rice-MIN.......The QB battle at MIN may determine this potential more than anything else.

Josh Freeman, TB QB Worth a late round pick?

In Fantasy Football Almanac 2009, I maintain that Freeman could wind up as the TB starter. He is worth a late round pick especially in Keeper leagues or leagues with large rosters.
The competiton with the Bucs is Leftwhich and McCown.....Freeman the 17th pick overall could be the starter from Day 1.
Watch this closely,
And if Plaxico Buress ends up in TB........

Don't forget Fathers Day this Sunday 21 June. Fantasy Football Gudebook, Fantasy Football Tips and Fantasy Football Almanac 2009 all are great, low cost gift ideas.

8 QB Fantasy Football Controversies....

There are more than 8 QB controversies in the NFL. You may be better off avoiding these QBs until you need a second QB and until more is known about who the starter and the backup will be in game one. Here are a few unknowns”

1) Minnesota- Sage Rosenfels, Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson…unless Favre comes out of retirement early this could get ugly early. Rosenfels is #29 if you force me.
2) Tampa Bay- Byron Leftwhich/ Luke McCown- These 2 look like #32 and #33 on my QB rankings
3) Detroit –Dante Culpepper/ Matt Stafford- Neither will start all 16 games. Bet on Dante for the first 5 games and Stafford the rest. This makes Stafford #31 on the list
4) NY Jets- Kellen Clemmons/ Mark Sanchez-Rumor has it that Sanchez may start the season. I like the kid and his attitude. Put him on your rankings at #27
5) Cleveland- Brady Quinn/ Derek Anderson- Anderson hurt his leg and everyone though Quinn stumbled into the job but now Manglagenius says it is still a battle. Oh brother….Quinn is #30 until he can win it legitamitely.
6) San Francisco- Shaun Hill/ Alex Smith –Hill finished strong after Singletary took over. Bet on him to start and do well with Crabtree at WR. Sleeper at #21
7) Oakland- JaMarcus Russell/ Jeff Garcia- Russell was the #1 draft pick in 2007, yeah that and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee at the Wal-Mart. If Russell struggles (and he will) Garcia could get some games sooner rather then later. Russell is #26 and Garica a sneaky # 34
8) Denver- Kyle Orton/ Chris Simms- Rumor has it that Orton won the starting job already. Apparently, Josh McDaniels wanted that settled. Move Orton up to #23 behind Jake Delhomme.

So the bottom dwellers at QB
21 S Hill
22 J Delhomme
23 K Orton
24 Jason Campbell
25 Kerry Collins
26 JaMarcus Russell
27 Mark Sanchez
28 Mark Bulger
29 Sage Rosenfels
30 Brady Quinn
31 Matt Stafford
32 Byron Leftwhich
33 Luke McCown
34 Jeff Garcia
35 Brett Favre
