What as the deal with all of the players (mainly WRs-few RBs and TEs do this) spinning the ball after catching a pass.
Is it me or is this a progressing phenomenon that needs stopping? It just seems to me that almost every third pass completion results in a spun ball. Why because the current rules allow you to spin the ball but not spike it. Spiking the ball results in a delay of game penalty-even if you did not want to spike it. I think Alex Smith ran for a short gain and then decided not to spike the ball so he just threw it down but ended up getting a penalty.
And while I am at it…venting that is… Why does every player feel the burning need to extend his arm in a first down motion after every other catch? Just get up and hand the ball to the ref. In many games when the team is trying to manage the clock, I still see these same WRs playing to the camera and making the first down signal or some other "hear me, see me" sign-wasting precious seconds!
Give me a break. If you score a TD I will grant you some showing of emotion, but not on a 3 yard catch or a first down on 3rd and five. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee!
