FFGuidebook.com places 8th in Fantasy Index Kicker Rankings for 2012

Scott Sachs of Perfect Season Fantasy Football is the winner of the kickers portion of the 2012 Fantasy Football Index Experts Poll.

It looked odd last summer when Sachs was the only expert who didn¹t put
David Akers in his top 6 at the position. Most experts had him first, but Sachs had him way down at 15th. Akers was coming off a season with an NFL-record 166 kicking points.

But Akers had a lousy year, and Sachs picked up a lot of value relative to the field in that area.

Chris Liss of Rotowire.com finished 2nd in this category. Cory Bonini of KFFL took 3rd.

This is the contest where analysts name their top 20 at each position. The higher you rank a player, the more he counts towards your score, and every pick by every analyst is graded.

Injuries play a huge role in this scoring system. Including guys who get hurt or released kill your overall score. Randy Bullock and Neil Rackers, for example, didn¹t even play, so anybody who was high on those guys got killed.

There is no perfect scoring system, of course. Fantasy Football is as much art as science. But it¹s at least one way to look at the picks and see how the various analysts did. In this category, Sachs won.
