FFPC Main Event Goes to Six Draft Times

FFPC Main Event Goes to Six Draft Times

I am a big believer that all same event drafts should never “straddle” the Thursday NFL opening game and all should be held either before or after that game. An issue this frequently causes was demonstrated last year when the Broncos offense went off and Peyton Manning went from a pre-game fifth rounder to a first rounder overnight, while Julius Thomas went from a late-round sleeper to an early-rounder.

Actually I think all drafts for an event should be held simultaneously to prevent any possibility of the loss of competitive balance. But I am a realist and know that different times provide a larger pool of entries.

Holding drafts in the same contests where Peyton Manning goes from a fifth to a first rounder seriously compromises the neutrality and the competitive balance of the tournament. The only way the FFPC could offer more draft opportunities was to add these draft times to the Friday and Saturday after the Thursday game.

For those reasons, they have decided to expand to a full slate of draft times after the Thursday game as follows:
  • Friday, September 5th at 9 a.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
  • Friday, September 5th at 1:30 p.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
  • Friday, September 5th at 6 p.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
  • Saturday, September 6th at 10 a.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
  • Saturday, September 6th at 3 p.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
  • Saturday, September 6th at 7 p.m. PT, live at Caesars Palace and online
